ARTIST STATEMENT
The work that is displayed is from two on-going projects; the first the Pre-construction period of Spencer Lofts, my new home in Chelsea, MA, and the latter work is from recent travels.
The large double exposures were from a trip to Paris in early 2003; it was then that I was also shooting the construction of Spencer Lofts. The images are double exposures (made in the camera) from my documents of Spencer lofts and images from my trip to Paris. My lab was appalled, I couldn’t be happier! The large color prints were printed on an Epson 9600 printer by master printer Larry Volk of Beverly, MA.
The "other" body of work is from an ongoing series, "recent work, different places". Whenever I travel I take my less expensive cameras and lenses. Because of it’s limited range I really can’t be too sure of what I’ll get but I do know I’ll come home with a gift, a gift of the unexpected. This equipment is also a vast contrast to my wedding and portrait work, which is shot with a professional medium format camera. This is also how I make my living.
Hope you enjoy the images.
